The negative effects of Mihadhara in the conflict of muslim Christian relationship: A case study done at selected mosques and churches in eastleigh estate of Nairobi city
(International Leadership University, 2013-06-13) Mahad Hillow Birik
The research was intended to establish the negative effects of Mihadhara in the conflict of Muslim-Christian relationship in Eastliegh Estate of Nairobi City. The central purpose of the study was to explore the degree to which Muslims and Christians carried out their religious role in handling the negative effects of Mihadhara in order to co-exist peacefully with engaging in a running battle all the times. The main objectives of the study was to establish the extent to which Muslim and Christian can peacefully co-exist while spreading their religious believes, instead of always causing havoc to each other. A detailed literature review section highlighting finding from other authors that helped to establish the knowledge gap that the present study hoped to fill in regards to how the Christian church has been equipped in dealing with the negative effects of Mihadhara conflict in Muslim and Christian relationship and they can co-exist. The theoretical frame work was established on the issues that cause the inter-religious conflict among the cosmopolitan population of Eastliegh and how to resolve conflict of Mihadhara origin in their relationship. The researcher also explores some of the effects caused by Mihadhara such as dialogue, converts from Muslim background, destruction of properties, displacement of non-Muslim among Muslim communities, discrimination in education, politics and intermarriage conflicts in Muslim-Christian relationship and how they can create fundamentalism with destruction to property and lives between the two communities. The theoretical framework is important for both Muslim and Christian open-air preachers to understand the importance of peaceful dialogue as we each spread our beliefs. A questionnaire and interviews were administered to Christian Church leaders (pastor), their wives, and youth groups both from Muslim and Christian faith, Muslim religious leaders, and business people from both divide living in Eastliegh Estate of Nairobi city. The research findings indicated that there are so many negative effects of Mihadhara to Muslim–Christian relationship but yet Muslims and Christians can co-exist because they do many other things together and each meeting they meet is seen as Church–Mosque relationships, after all they live in the same country and religious tolerant is much needed in order to enhance their co-existence. It also pointed out that since the 7 th century Muslims and Christians have historically co-existed and there are many things in common we can learn from each other. Muslim preachers should stop ridiculing the Christian faith and concentrate on preaching from their own book. They should also respect the Christian book as they are commanded by their own book. The converts from Muslim background believers have freedom to belief the religion they wish and think will lead them to the true God. Their wish should be respect after all no Christians kill or force their beloved who turned to the Muslim faith. These findings and more can be help to the Muslim and Christian communities living in Eastliegh Estate to peacefully co-exist since both the Qur’an and the Christian Bible command their followers to peacefully, co-exist and become good citizens since both of them are living in the same district and country and none of them is ceasing their citizenship.

Quite a number of scholars agree to, Christians b eing God‘s s teward. ―As God‘s Josephs, we go through trials so that we can be fully yielded to His purposes‖ ( Hillman, 2005:46). Jesus during his ministry and various teaching through parables clearly drew a picture of His followers being stewards. He commissioned Simon Peter to feed, tend and take care of the sheep and lambs (John 21:15-17). International leadership university house groups as a means for urban building community in the twenty-first century urban church: A case study of Nairobi mega churches
(International Leadership University, 2012-06-14) Peter Muiruri Njoroge
Urban mega churches in Nairobi are facing common phenomena whereby the more they increase in numbers, the more they decrease in their spiritual growth. The Church has lost its power and its voice to address moral, political, economic, physical, social, leadership and even spiritual issues facing the society today. As the influence of the church continues to weaken, people are searching for safe places where they can share their struggles, ask questions and be accepted. They seem to be looking for answers in all the wrong places, like pubs, clubs, media, and disco theatres. For this reason the need of house groups becomes vital in their lives. House groups, therefore, provide an opportunity for people to become more like Christ and to experience care, acceptance, and true community. The research also examines the first century church which met in homes, with specific reference to Acts 2:42-47 as the guideline of the activities of the house church.

Impact of mass media on students’ character: Case study of secondary schools in Embakasi district, Nairobi
(International Leadership University, 2014-06-12) Patricia Wamuyu
This research is intended to establish whether mass media has any influence on the character of the young people and more specifically the students. Considering the changes in character and behaviour that have taken place in the young people of the current generation the need to investigate is paramount. The first objective is to investigate the negative impact of mass media on the students’ character. The second and third objective is to find out whether mass media has a positive impact on the students’ character and determining whether some have more impact than others. The final objective is to determine solutions to negative impacts of mass media. The theoretical framework highlights the theories that describe the relationships between mass media and the students’ character, how character is highly influenced by what we daily interact with. The study has involved literature review section that highlights findings from other people who have observed related studies both locally and other parts of the world. The study design has enabled the research to assess the relationship that exists between the variables presented. The target population was High school students of ages between fourteen and twenty two and the survey design was employed as the sampling method. This method was suitable because of the utilization of survey questionnaires. The last chapter summarizes the whole research process. This chapter provides discussion, conclusion and recommendations. Research findings indicated that advertisements as part and parcel of media have a higher impact on the students than any other factor. However, mobile phones, TV shows, music and movies have played a role. This does not conclusively suggest that students’ character is only impacted by these factors but that there is room for more research to be carried out. It is the researcher’s recommendation that more research should be carried out in such areas as the information provided through mobile phones. Other areas include impact of music and movies on the students’ character.
