| dc.description.abstract | This research investigates the psychological theory on birth order by Alfred Adler and its effects on personality of women in the African context. The study focuses on adult women aged 25-40 years from Embakasi South Ward in Nairobi County, Kenya. The central purpose of this study was to collect data on firstborns, second borns, middle borns, last borns and only children so as to find out whether Adler’s argument on the various personalities on birth order applies in the African context. The findings were aimed at finding out whether this theory can be used in analyzing social behaviors and also assisting in counselling as well as assessing some personality differences in siblings which leads to better interaction with individuals in one’s environment. In addition, this would help find out also if there are other factors that affect personality apart from birth order. The study revealed that there was need to find out other factors that affect personality apart from birth order. More so, it revealed that there are certain personality traits that Adler states that apply to the different birth orders. However, this is not the only thing that seems to affect the personality of the young adult women in the African context. | |
